Update Tab |

Click to view the update panel. Daily updates to the OSMA database stock market day
closing prices are can be done from here. |

|
Click to view details about any update errors. |

Calendar Tab |
|
Click to view calendar panel. An annual calendar can be displayed from here. Note: May
require enabling Pop Ups on the web browser. |

Date Field |
|
Enter stock market day to
update. Format must be
DD-MM-YYYY. If day entered is a
weekend, Date Field automatically rolls back to the Friday before that
weekend. |

Update Button |
|
Press to update the OSMA database stock market closing
prices for the day entered in Date Field. |
|
Populate Button |
|
Press to populate the OSMA database stock market closing
prices starting with the day entered in Date Field and continuing backward
until the date reaches 2004. |
|
Cancel Button |
|
Press to cancel an update or populate operation. |
|
Print Button |
|
Press to print the results of an operation to the printer
on the computer from which the OSMA Update Applet is being viewed. |
|
Update Table |
|
Displays results of an update operation. |
|
Progress Bar |
|
Displays progress of an active update operation. |
|
Time Combo Box |
|
Select time frame for reviewing recent updates. Choices are the most recent day,
week, month, quarter, year, or all updates in the database. |
|
Go Button |
|
Press to review recent updates for the time frame selected
in the Time Combo Box. |
|
History Table |
|
Displays market day and number of stocks updated on that
day for the time frame selected in the Time Combo Box. Click on a row to display stocks and
closing prices in the Closing Price Table for that market day. |
|
Closing Price Table |
|
Displays stock symbols and their closing prices for the
selected market day in the History Table. |
Prerequisite 1
This program requires a Java enabled web browser using a
high speed Internet connection.
Supported web browsers include Firefox 2.0, Internet Explorer 6, and
Safari. Other browsers may work
as well. The web browser may
need to allow Pop Ups for full functionality. |
Prerequisite 2
Java Runtime Edition Version 5.0 must be installed on the
computer and enabled in the web browser. To test if the web browser is Java ready, please go to the
Java download page: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
and click “Verify”. |
Prerequisite 3
The first time the program is used, it will display a
certificate of trust. Click
“Trust” (or “Run”) in order to use the program. |

Step 1
Click on Update Tab to view update panel. The day shown in the Date Field is
yesterday or, if yesterday falls on the weekend, the first Friday before
yesterday. If desired, enter a
different day in the Date Field in the format: DD-MMM-YYYY. |

Step 1 continued
If the wrong format is entered in the Date Field, a
reminder message will be displayed showing the correct format: DD-MMM-YYYY. |

Step 2
Press the Update Button to update one day. Press the Populate Button to continue
updating backward until 2004. |
|
Step 3
The Update Table will display the stocks, closing prices
and either a check mark or “Error” depending on whether the stock is updated
successfully. The Progress Bar
will display the percent of completion of one update. Press the Cancel Button to cancel an
update or populate operation. |

Step 4
Click on the Error Tab to review any error messages of an
update or populate operation. If
nothing is displayed, then there were no errors. |

Step 5
Click on the History Tab. Select a time range in the Time Combo Box to review recent
updates within that time frame. |
|
Step 6
Press the Go Button.
Stock market days and corresponding number of stocks updated will be
displayed in the History Table. |

Step 7
Click on a row in the History Table to display stocks and
closing prices for that day in the Closing Price Table. The same can be done using keyboard
input from the computer. |

Step 8
Click on the Calendar Tab to view a calendar. Select the desired year or type a
different year in the combo box.
Then press “Go”. |

Step 9
A calendar for the selected year will be opened in a new
web browser window. *Note:
The web browser preferences may need to be set to allow Pop Ups. |
